2023
Founded
We started building the TAI community on November 2nd, 2023, through Tokyo AI Talks (TAIT) — an invite-only group that met every two months for lightning talks and panels. The goal was to connect the brightest engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and investors interested in knowledge sharing, serendipity, and engineering excellence.

Today and Beyond
Today TAI is a vibrant community passionate about progress in AI and Machine Learning, working together to make Tokyo a global AI hub. We currently run six interest groups: AMA, AMAJ, AAI, AHR, AIST, and TAIT.

AMAJ — Applied ML & AI in Japanese
The Japanese-language version of AMA, for members who are more comfortable sharing and exploring research in the local language.
AAI — Advanced AI
More advanced discussions on AI from first principles — Mathematics, Physics, Information Theory, Statistical Learning, and the foundational research shaping the future of AI.
AHR — AI in Hardware & Robotics
Where AI, hardware, and robotics meet. We see Japan as the top place for engineering and entrepreneurship at this intersection.
AIST — AI Salon Tokyo
A global community by and for AI-focused founders, builders, investors, and enterprise partners. Now independent from TAI since November 2025.
TAIT — Tokyo AI Talks
Our invite-only community with limited seats for each bi-monthly session. The value is in the network and the interactions during the sessions.
